Officer Retirement Announcement

Vice President, Area Retail and Delivery Operations, Atlantic Area – Salvatore Vacca

Salvatore (Sal) N. Vacca, Vice President, Area Retail and Delivery Operations, Atlantic Area, has informed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that he will be retiring effective October 1, 2022. 

In his current role, Sal oversees retail and delivery operations in the area’s 12 districts and 14 states, across 293,000 square miles.  Atlantic Area’s 128,000 employees serve 35.6 million delivery points from more than 8,600 Post Offices.  Under Sal’s leadership, the area has produced $3.5 billion in total annual revenue—all the while providing outstanding customer service at every touchpoint.

Sal started his postal career in 1985 as a letter carrier in Newark, NJ.  Before his appointment as vice president in August of 2020, he served as acting area vice president in Great Lakes Area.  He previously served in Florida as postmaster at offices in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach and was detailed as officer-in-charge in Miami.  He has held other top-level positions, including district manager of Capital District, district manager of Atlanta District, officer-in-charge in Atlanta, and operations support manager for Capital Metro Area.
